Advocacy

A person with FASD needs a person in their life to help them think and advocate for them. FASD people are easily influenced and need someone there to care for them and help them decide things that people with out this condition can do for themselves. I am planning to be my step-son's advocate for as long as I possibly can.

Oppositional Defiance

One of the issues with my step son is he has been diagnosed with multiple disorders.  One of which is called Oppositional Defiant Disorder.  If you have a child that has been diagnosed with this, there are many different types of strategies.  One of which is offered here Click Here!. I hope this helps.

"Please don't drink alcohol or do drugs while you are pregnant"

A message about Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder:

Parenting is not an easy job, but it becomes much more difficult when your child has special needs.  When a child is conceived and has alcohol and drugs in the womb it changes how the child develops and could lead to life long issues.  The brain is a fragile part of any person and in the womb a baby can not get rid of the drugs and alcohol like someone who is already born.  There is no where for the poisons to go.  The brain is unable to function normally in a person with FASD.
